Duty Assumption of the New Secretary
Mr. R P A Wimalaweera, a special grade officer of Sri Lanka Administrative Service assumed duty as the new Secretary to the Ministry of Labour and Foreign Employment on 25th May 2022. Mr. R P A Wimalaweera is an eminent character in the field of labour as he had served in the several positions of the Ministry of Labour and Department of Labour including Commissioner General of Labour and in the capacity of Additional Secretary in various Ministries in his previous professional career.
Mr. R P A Wimalaweera had joined to Sri Lanka Administrative Service in the year of 1998. He holds a special degree in Economics (University of Kelaniya), Master Degree in Economics (University of Colombo) and Master Degree in Human Resources Planning and Development (New Delhi). During his profession career in the field of labour, he has been served as a resource person for the international labour workshops / programs hence abundant exposure in the international relations. Further, he has been published plenty of research papers in the field of Labour and he has also been serving as the Visiting Lecturer at the Open University of Sri Lanka.
