Ministry of Labour Launches Islandwide Mobile Service Programme from 22nd to 26th- Inauguration Ceremony at Jaffna
The Ministry of Labour will be conducting a mobile service across the island from the 22nd to the 26th of this month with the objective of providing services available through institutions under the Ministry of Labour.
During this service, employees of private and semi-government institutions will have the opportunity to check information on their Employment Provident Fund (EPF) accounts and balances, correct inaccurate member details based on their National Identity Card, register as members, lodge complaints, and receive advice regarding labour law–related matters. Those who wish to obtain these services must bring their National Identity Card, their ‘B’ card (if already registered in the Employment Provident Fund), and any official letters obtained from their employer if required for verification, when visiting the respective Labour Office from the 22nd to the 26th of this month, the Department of Labour stated.
The opening ceremony of the mobile service is scheduled to be held under the patronage of Hon. Mahinda Jayasinghe, Deputy Minister of Labour on the 22nd at the Jaffna District Labour Office.
On the same day, at the premises of the Jaffna District Labour Office, several parallel programmes have been organized, including: a Job Fair conducted by the Department of Manpower and Employment; a medical clinic organized by the Shrama Vasana Fund for selected workers from factories and institutions in the district; and a World Children’s Day celebration at Jaffna Vaidyeshwara College focusing on the elimination of child labour. In addition, the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health has organized an awareness programme for students of the Jaffna Technical College on the importance of protecting themselves from occupational accidents and diseases, particularly those common in Palmyra-related industries in the Palai area of the Jaffna region.
