Employees’ Provident Fund has been established by the Act no. 15 of 1957 to ensure a secured retirement for the country’s workforce in the semi-government and private sectors of Sri Lanka. Administration of the fund is done by the Department of Labour whilst financial management is done by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. Registration of workplaces in Employees Provident Fund, registration of members for Employees’ Provident Fund, payment of benefits of EPF, monitoring approved Provident Funds, promotion of the EPF fund are carried out by the Department of Labour.
