A delegation from the Yunnan Provincial Federation of Trade Unions, People’s Republic of China, paid an official visit to the Ministry of Labour, Sri Lanka, as part of efforts to strengthen mutual understanding and cooperation in the field of labour.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by Mr. S. M. Piyatissa, Secretary, Ministry of Labour. The Sri Lankan delegation also comprised Mr. Lal Samarasekara, Additional Secretary (Policy Formulation and Foreign Relations), Mr. B. Vasanthan, Senior Assistant Secretary (Foreign Relations) and Ms. W.P.A.G Wijesooriya, Legal Officer.

The delegation from the Yunnan Provincial Federation of Trade Unions comprised Yuan Bingchang/Director of the Legal and Rights Protection Department of the Yunnan Provincial Federation of Trade Unions, Xiao Ping/ Editor-in-Chief (Director) of *Times Style* magazine (Yunnan Provincial Federation of Trade Unions Digital Trade Union Development Center), Zhang Mingtao/ Deputy Director of the Organization Department of the Yunnan Provincial Federation of Trade Unions, Liu Xiaoli/ Deputy Director of the Yunnan Provincial Federation of Trade Unions Employee Assistance Service Center, Wen Shaohua, Deputy Secretary-General of the Yunnan Employee Foreign Exchange Center.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on matters relating to tripartism, social dialogue, labour relations, and workers’ services, with particular emphasis on sharing experiences and good practices. The discussions also provided an opportunity to explore avenues for enhancing future communication, knowledge exchange, and cooperation between the two sides in areas of mutual interest.

The discussions were held in a cordial and constructive spirit and reflected the shared interest of both sides in strengthening institutional linkages and cooperation in the labour sector.

As a follow-up to the discussions, the Chinese side agreed to submit a proposal outlining potential areas for knowledge sharing and capacity-building on tripartism and related labour-sector activities. The proposed areas of cooperation are expected to provide a basis for further engagement and the development of mutually beneficial initiatives between the relevant institutions of Sri Lanka and Yunnan Province.
